How Does ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN LO Work?

ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN LO is a low-dose birth control pill you take every day. When taken as directed, it delivers a low dose of hormones that works to prevent you from becoming pregnant. The hormones in ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN LO also help to regulate your menstrual cycle, so your periods may be easier and more predictable. Watch the presentation below for a reproduction refresher and to learn more about how the Pill works.

Why 4 Colors?

ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN LO is a triphasic birth control pill, which means that it delivers a different level of hormones for 3 weeks (white, light blue and dark blue pills) and no hormones for 1 week (green pills). During each of the first
3 weeks, the level of progestin increases.

Take your Birth Control Pill as Directed!

ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN LO is a highly effective birth control pill when taken daily, at the same time of day. Missing pills may increase your risk of pregnancy and your chance of having some side effects, like bleeding between periods. If you forget to take one or more pills, please read our ”What If I Miss a Pill?” section to see what to do, and if you need to use a backup form of birth control!
