Reassess at Her Annual Visit

Your patient's annual visit is an ideal time to discuss contraception. She relies on you to tell her about her birth control options - and appreciates your taking the time to discuss them with her.

Why Reassess Her Birth Control Needs?

Revisit your patient's birth control options, because her needs vary and change depending on what's happening in her life, such as:

  • Starting college
  • Going through life changes
  • Entering a relationship
  • Experiencing health issues
  • Spacing children
  • Moving into the 35-40 age range
  • Recently giving birth
  • Entering perimenopause

In addition, your patient's current birth control method may be causing breast tenderness, nausea, bloating or headaches, or she may want to lower her estrogen dose.
